Staffing Transition – Saying Thank You and Farewell to Deirdre

Deirdre Demers, TIHAN’s Program Manager for over 9 years, is both excited and sad as she finishes up her last days at TIHAN.

Deirdre has had incredible experiences with this community, and TIHAN will always hold a special place in her heart! And we will always be grateful for her work with TIHAN!

We’ll be having a farewell/thank you party for her as well as collecting for a going away gift.  If you’d like more information about the gathering, contact Barbie at barbieagle@gmail.com.

Outdoor Red Concert Benefits HIV Programs in Tucson as Well as Globally

Join us for a night of music under the stars with music from the band Good Trouble on Sunday, April 2, the doors open at 4pm, and the show starts at 5pm.  Advance tickets for the benefit concert are on sale for $25!

Good Trouble is Tucson’s popular variety dance band – playing all your Classic Rock, Motown, R/B, Pop and Country favs – from the 60’s – 90s. Check out their website with video clips here.

And this year’s new event venue is Three Canyon Beer and Wine Garden, a beautiful outdoor spot with fire pits, food and spirits on Tucson’s northeast side.

Proceeds from the concert jointly benefit the programs and services of TIHAN (serving people with HIV here in Tucson) and the Center for Health and Hope (providing support services to people affected by HIV globally).

Sponsorship levels range from $100 to $1,500. For tickets or to become an event sponsor, visit https://www.centerforhealthandhope.org/the-red-concert.

Did You Know? There’s Still Time to Get an Arizona State Tax Credit on your 2022 Tax Return!

Did you know that as a donor to TIHAN, you can receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit against your Arizona state taxes— up to $400 per individual or $800 per married couple?  This is not just a deduction, but a direct credit off state taxes you owe.

It’s possible because TIHAN has been confirmed by the state as a Qualifying Charitable Organization providing essential services to people with lower income.  And under Arizona law, if you made a contribution to TIHAN in 2022 or before April 18, 2023, you can still claim the tax credit on your 2022 tax return!  So there’s still time to donate.

You don’t need to itemize, and you can claim this tax credit in addition to the school and foster care tax credits!  TIHAN’s QCO Code is 20359, which you should include when you file your state tax return and claim your credit.

You can donate online now at www.tihan.org, then click on the DONATE MONEY button.  Put your tax credit dollars where your heart is!  Invest in TIHAN and our programs and services, and direct some of your state tax dollars to TIHAN.

Donations Of Toilet Tissue for Our CarePartners is Greatly Appreciated

Are you able to pick up a few extra toiletries on your next shopping trip and donate them to TIHAN for people living with HIV?

Every month, each CarePartner living with HIV can receive a CarePackage filled with toiletry, personal care, and cleaning items.  We usually distribute over 200 CarePackages each month, and we count on your donations of items.

Right now we are especially in need of toilet tissue to add to our CarePackages.  Most of our CarePartners with HIV live on low income and are in need of these items that they are unable to purchase using Nutrition Assistance (previously known as food stamps).

You can drop off these items at the TIHAN office at 2660 N 1st Avenue on Mon-Fri between 8:30a-4:30p.  Donation receipts are provided for you to document for your taxes.

Thank you!
