All kinds of good things are happening at TIHAN! We’re gearing up for our Disco in the Desert fundraising event, our 2023 Treasures for TIHAN party and auction. Tickets are on sale now, and we’re also hoping you can help with donating an item for us to auction (with a deadline of 4/30). A reminder about state tax credits that benefit you and us, a Sunday afternoon classical music concert, a volunteer appreciation event at the zoo, and our in-person Poz Café buffet lunches are happening in-person as we gear up for serving our 35,000th meal this month!

Sit-down meals are starting back at Poz Café! And this month we will be serving our 35,000th meal!
We are excited that we are finally able to again host an in-person, sit-down lunch for our CarePartners living with HIV! We’ve got a new outdoor location (in a large private courtyard) and, thanks to our partners at the Culinary Arts Team of Amity Foundation’s Circle Tree Ranch, we’ll be having a buffet serving line. Our CarePartners are very excited for this, and the fact that this month we’ll be serving our 35,000th meal to a lucky CarePartner! This will be the first time in more than 3 years that we’ve had a sit-down meal served at Poz Café. We’ve served thousands of to-go meals in a drive-through grab-and-go style over the past three years, so it will be nice to be sit down and eat together again!

We’re Accepting Donations of Auction Items
Can you or your business/organization contribute an item or a gift certificate to support the cause, and receive exposure in our community of hundreds of compassionate people who share your values? Gift certificates, event tickets, ceramics, jewelry, services, trips – we like to have a wide variety of items to auction off! Contact us — we can pick up your donation, or you can drop it off.
Auction items that you would like to donate or that you have collected for the event may be dropped off at the TIHAN office (2660 North 1st Avenue) from 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. Also, item pickup may be arranged by calling TIHAN at 520-299-6647.

Be sure and claim your tax credit before you file your taxes!
Be Sure to Claim Your Arizona State Tax Credit.
Since TIHAN is a Qualifying Charitable Organization providing assistance to low income Arizonans, your donations to TIHAN qualify you for a state tax reduction. Simply donate before April 18, 2023, and you can still claim it on your 2022 tax return!
By donating to TIHAN, you can reduce your Arizona state tax liability with a dollar-for-dollar reduction (up to $400/person, or $800/married couple filing jointly).
Put your tax credit dollars where your heart is! Invest in TIHAN and our programs and services, and direct some of your state tax dollars to TIHAN.

Dove of Peace Charity Concert
Features Brahms, Selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Ukrainian Folk Songs and More – Sunday, April 16, 2:00pm
Join us for an afternoon of special music as Tucson Symphony Orchestra and True Concord Violist Sarah Bromberg (née Toy) and Pianist Alexander Tentser close out Dove of Peace Lutheran Church’s charity series. The concert takes place at Dove of Peace Lutheran Church: 665 W Roller Coaster Road. Admission is free, and a free-will offering will be taken in support of TIHAN. Masks are required. Dove of Peace Lutheran Church (north of Oracle and River) is celebrating 60 years with a rich history of musical and liturgical excellence and social ministry to the local, national and global communities.

Volunteer Appreciation Event at the Zoo
To say THANK YOU to all of our volunteers, TIHAN is inviting you to a FREE event at the Reid Park Zoo on Thursday, April 20th from 4:30pm-7:00pm.
Please join us (and bring your family and friends) for FREE admission into the Zoo, animal encounters, games, carousel rides, keeper chats, zoo attractions, local entertainment, and more than 40 local nonprofits and community partners.
Food/drink will also be available for purchase.
TIHAN will have a table at the event, so stop by and say hello. We’re looking forward to connecting with our volunteers and supporters, and talking to potential volunteers who might want to get involved.
Help Us Include Paper Towels in CarePackages for People Living with HIV
Are you able to pick up a few extra toiletries on your next shopping trip and donate them to TIHAN for people living with HIV? Every month, each CarePartner living with HIV can receive a CarePackage filled with toiletry, personal care, and cleaning items.
We usually distribute 200 CarePackages a month, and we count on your donations of items.
This month, we are especially in need of paper towels to include in our CarePackages.
Most of our CarePartners with HIV live on low income and are in need of these items that they are unable to purchase using Nutrition Assistance (previously known as food stamps).
You can drop off these items at the TIHAN office at 2660 N 1st Avenue on Mon-Fri between 8:30a-4:30p. Donation receipts are provided for you to document for your taxes. Thank you!
The RED Concert A Great Success!
More than 150 people gathered under the cabanas for a beautiful afternoon at the Red Concert, coming together to enjoy music while supporting HIV programs both locally and globally.
The band Good Trouble treated us to classic rock songs, sparking great memories and dancing! Three Canyon Beer and Wine Garden was a perfect site for us, offering great service, wonderful food, and drinks.
Our event sponsors and attendees made sure we met and exceeded our income goal, bringing in almost $25,000, split equally between TIHAN and the Center for Health and Hope, designed to support programs here in Tucson and an addiction treatment program in Kenya for people at risk of HIV.
Anonymous donors offered a $10,000 challenge match, and our community stepped up and with your love and support, we exceeded our goal!
Our 50/50 raffle was a great success, and the winning ticket was worth more than $2,000—and the winner donated all the proceeds back to the event beneficiaries!
We honored Pat Fox with the Leadership Award, and dedicated the event to the memory of Roy DeBise-Loomis.
Thanks to our event planning team and chair Jess Losoya, and all who attended or contributed, for a successful fun-raising and fund-raising event!
TIHAN is Seeking Temp Admin Support (Part-time)
TIHAN is seeking someone for temporary, part-time Admin Support (10-30 hours/week during Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm). Must have administrative experience, be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and databases, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced office.
