This Sunday’s Online Benefit Concert for TIHAN Features Two Renowned Guitarists
Dove of Peace Lutheran Church’s immensely popular free series of classical music concerts continues this with a classical guitar program this Sunday, February 13, at 2:00pm. To keep everyone safe from the COVID-19 surge we are now experiencing, this year’s concert has been changed from “in-person” and will be live-streamed online. This classical guitar concert will feature two acclaimed performers: Bin Hu (classical guitar) and Misael Barraza-Diaz (flamenco guitar). There is no charge for admission to this online concert, and viewers are encouraged to make a contribution to TIHAN. Concertgoers can go to the church’s website (doveofpeacetucson.org) starting at 2:00 on February 13 to watch the concert live, or watch the recording at a later time. The website also provides instructions as to how to make a contribution to support TIHAN.

Volunteer Spotlight: Barbie Talks About Her Volunteer Experience with TIHAN
Barbie has done a lot of volunteer work over the years—including hospice, botanical gardens, humane society, serving on the board of an arts organization—but her longest volunteering tenure has been with TIHAN.
She attended the Volunteer Orientation in March 2007. She didn’t have anyone close to her (that she knew) with HIV. But she heard about TIHAN through a friend who was involved in a faith community that helped with Poz Café. “I liked the idea of Poz Café and working with people and helping focus on living rather than dying, providing a celebratory meal for people to live well with HIV.”

Gay Rodeo 2022 – Join Us to Support this Fundraising Event
For many years, TIHAN has been blessed to be one of the charity beneficiaries of the Arizona Gay Rodeo. The Arizona Gay Rodeo Association is excited to bring rodeo back to Arizona after a one-year absence. It will take place in Phoenix on Presidents Day Weekend (February 18-20, 2022) at the Corona Ranch and Rodeo Grounds.
You are invited to a weekend of fun, food, entertainment, and of course, RODEO! Enjoy traditional rodeo events like roping, bucking broncs, chute dogging, and some fun “camp” events too.
Admission is $15 for the day. TIHAN is gathering a team of people to volunteer for a few hours (taking tickets at the door or other outdoor volunteer roles) on either Saturday or Sunday. Volunteers get free admission for the day.

Treasures for TIHAN Seeking Sponsorships and Donations of Items
We’re excited to announce that Treasures for TIHAN, our biggest annual fundraising event, is scheduled for Saturday, June 4, 2022. Save the date, and watch out for more details coming soon.
We have event sponsorship opportunities (ranging from $500 to $15,000), and we are now accepting donations of auction items, including experiences, trips, tickets, hotel stays, gift certificates, sweets, baskets, services, ceramics, jewelry, collectibles, and antiques.

Featured CarePackage Need of the Month: Paper Towels
One of the ways that we help our CarePartners live well with HIV is by providing not only essential household items, but also products to help keep them safe and their lodging clean. Our CarePackages are filled with donated items that people can’t purchase with their SNAP benefits (“food stamps”).
One of the key items we include in each CarePackage is a roll of paper towels. And since we distribute CarePackages to more than 200 people living with HIV each month, we need a lot of paper towels! Keeping the home clean and safe is important, and quality paper towels are one of the most requested items from our CarePartners.
If you are able, please consider donating rolls of paper towels to TIHAN, which is our featured CarePackage item of need this month. Donations can be dropped off outside the front door of the TIHAN office, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Thank you for your generous support of TIHAN and our mission and programs!

Would you like to get involved and be part of making a difference in someone’s life, and in our community, safely? The needs for volunteers in some area are high, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. Sign up for an online Volunteer Orientation. - Program Committee volunteer (program management and evaluation)
