Dear Friends,

Our CarePartners living with HIV are so grateful for your support during these stressful and uncertain times.  We know that our supporting businesses, faith communities, and nonprofit groups—and your members—are also impacted, and we want to make sure you know that you are appreciated and loved.  Together, we do what we can to sustain ourselves during these times, and ensure that all of us, especially the most vulnerable in our community, are cared for and supported.  Thank you, from all of us at TIHAN!  Lots is happening here – check out these announcements!

Celebrating TIHAN’s Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Open House!

What a fantastic community gathering for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony and the open house for the new offices of TIHAN!  We had 140 folks (from 51 different partner organizations) join us for the festivities, with a blessing from the Vice Chair of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, Hon Peter Yucupicio, along with Chair of the Pima County Board of Supervisor Rex Scott, Tucson City Council Members Karin Uhlich and Kevin Dahl, Deputy Pima County Administrator Steve Holmes, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Pastor Amalia Vagts and Council President Patty Sirls, TIHAN Board President Bobbie Parrish, current and former TIHAN Board members, and HIV physicians Dr. Kevin Carmichael and Dr. Danielle Avila joined for the official ribbon-cutting. A group of seven people living with HIV processed into the courtyard carrying the red ribbon, which will now be framed and displayed in our office.

The ceremony finished with an interfaith blessing from a dozen clergy from many denominations, then refreshments, an overview of the “state of TIHAN,” and staff-narrated tours of our offices.

We are thrilled to be in our new space at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, and grateful that so many of you are supporting TIHAN’s programs, services, and partnerships that help people living with HIV in our community.

A Sunday Funday Benefit for TIHAN

Join us!  Sunday, June 29 from 11am-4pm at The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #180  (1530 N Stone Avenue).  Longtime TIHAN volunteers Patricia and Robert Ruiz and their team of friends started this benefit three years ago, and have raised several thousand dollars for TIHAN!  And they’re doing it again!  It’s a fun afternoon of music, food, community, and helping people in need.  It’s free to attend, and you can buy delicious food (only $10 a plate for enchiladas, rice, and beans) and enter into dozens of raffles for donated baskets and gift cards.  There will be a DJ and a bar, and lots of friends coming out on a Sunday afternoon into the cool of the FOE building to raise funds for people living with HIV.

To donate a basket to be raffled off, or a gift card, please contact Scott at scott@tihan.org or Patricia at pat.alliedinsgroup@gmail.com or text her at 520-549-7054.

HIV in the News:  AIDS United Responds to the Administration’s Proposed Cuts to HIV

AIDS United is an organization that “envisions a time when all people, governments, and organizations commit to ending the epidemic and strengthening the health, well-being, and human rights of everyone impacted by HIV.”  “Every aspect of our nation’s HIV response would be negatively impacted” by President Trump’s proposed FY26 “skinny” budget, writes AIDS United.  (It’s referred to as the FY26 “skinny budget” because of its lack of detail.”  With proposed cuts impacting the safety net for people living with HIV without sufficient resources for their care and wellbeing, the administration’s plans will have widespread impact upon vulnerable people.  See their response in an article in the current online edition of POZ Magazine:  “’Broad, Cruel and Devastating:’ AIDS United Responds to Trump’s 2026 Budget Plans
