TIHAN Participates in Tucson’s Pride Festival and Parade – Join Us!
Tucson’s Pride celebration is back, taking place on Saturday, October 1, at Reid Park, where the Festival will start at Noon. With thousands of people expected to attend, Tucson Pride will feature a variety of businesses and nonprofit organizations sharing information, including TIHAN. The Pride Parade takes place downtown near Armory Park the night before, Friday, September 30, starting at 7:30pm.

Benefit for TIHAN at Fraternal Order of Eagles
Join us on Sunday, October 9, for a TIHAN benefit at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #180 (1530 N Stone Avenue). Longtime TIHAN volunteer Patricia Ruiz is organizing an event from 11am-5pm. It’s free and open to all, with raffles, great music, and a silent auction.
From 1-3pm, Patricia will be serving up her famous tacos and chilaquiles, along with rice and beans, for only $10 a plate. All proceeds benefit TIHAN. Patricia’s volunteer efforts supporting TIHAN are inspired by her brother Steve Trujillo, who served as Board President of TIHAN and passed away in 2013.

CarePackage Items Needed
Every month, each CarePartner living with HIV can receive a CarePackage filled with toiletry, personal care, and cleaning items. We distribute over 200 CarePackages each month, and we count on your donations of items.
Below is a list of items needed, and you can drop them off at the TIHAN office anytime Mon-Fri between 8:30am-4:30pm.
Needed items include toilet tissue, paper towels, facial tissue, disinfecting wipes, bleach / household disinfecting cleaners, hand sanitizer, liquid hand soap, dish detergent, shampoo, laundry detergent (smaller bottles), bar soap/body wash, toothpaste, dental floss, mouthwash (smaller bottles), toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, disposable razors, shaving cream, and feminine hygiene products.
Join us In Honoring Stuart J. Meinke and His Spirit of Philanthropy
We are excited to announce that Stuart J. Meinke will receive TIHAN’s 2022 Spirit of Philanthropy Award at the local commemoration of National Philanthropy Day, and we invite you to join us to celebrate him! Stuart has been among the most significant supporters of TIHAN and our programs to help people with HIV to live well. In addition to volunteering with TIHAN for more than five years, Stuart has exemplified philanthropy by being a longtime annual donor to TIHAN for more than 15 years.
This year’s annual National Philanthropy Day Awards luncheon takes place on Friday, November 18, 2022, at The Westin La Paloma Resort. Registration is at 11:00am, and the luncheon is from 11:30am-1:00pm, followed by an optional after-party. There will be hundreds of Tucsonans gathering to honor our community’s philanthropy.
If you’d like to join us at the TIHAN table, tickets for the luncheon are $80. Please email Scott@tihan.org by September 15 if we should save a spot for you at the TIHAN table.
Dining with Friends Events – You Are Invited!
We are inviting you to join in our Dining with Friends benefit by hosting a dinner party (or lunch, brunch or cocktail party) for your friends. Gather your friends together to share good food and drink, encouraging attendees to make a donation to TIHAN. You can make your event as informal or formal as you’d like – it’s all up to you.

Ride El Tour de Tucson and Raise Funds for TIHAN! And Sponsor TIHAN’s Riders, Too
We’re looking for people who want to ride in the famous El Tour de Tucson ride in November. Routes range from 102 miles, 63 miles, 32 miles, 10 miles, 5 miles, all the way down to 1 mile.
We’re looking for a few people who will raise at least $500 by riding for TIHAN, and we’ll pay your El Tour registration fees and you’ll be part of TIHAN’s first-ever El Tour team.

Volunteer Opportunities Abound – Sign Up for A Volunteer Orientation
It’s not too late to sign up for our next Volunteer Orientation! We have volunteer opportunities for administrative support, as well as direct client (CarePartner) support roles.

The 2022 “Millions for Tucson” raffle features three amazing prizes! The grand prize is a 2022 Ford Maverick Lariat Hybrid; second prize is two roundtrip first-class airline tickets to anywhere in the world; and third prize is $5,000 cash.
Tickets are only $25 each, or 5 tickets for $100. Need not be present to win.
TIHAN gets to utilize the money from all the raffle tickets we sell to support our programs and services, and you get a chance to win these great prizes!

Register to Vote – Your Voice Matters – Deadline Approaching In Just a Few Weeks
If you are a US citizen living in Arizona and need to register to vote, need to change your address on your voter registration, or want to sign up to vote by mail (by being on the Permanent Early Voting List or PEVL), you can do it online via this website from the state of Arizona (in both English and Spanish).
You can also check your current voter registration info and your polling place too.
If you want to be one of the 80% of Arizona voters who are signed up for early voting by mail (PEVL), you will receive your ballot in the mail a few weeks before Election Day, and then you send it back in a prepaid envelope. No need to travel to your polling place on Election Day.
